WASHINGTON — As the Islamic State stormed across Iraq and Syria, I left my career in film and TV to share stories of communities impacted by its destruction. Since then, I’ve completed my master’s degree in Foreign Affairs Journalism from Northwestern, worked as an international journalist for Al-Monitor and The Washington Post, traveled each year to the Middle East, and published hundreds of stories and photos. The works shared here are just a few of them.
I write human-drive narratives, shoot engaging news packages, deliver social-first journalism and present live on-camera reporting to bring audiences into the action. And I operate as a one-person crew — researching, interviewing, writing, filming, editing and publishing stories under tight deadlines.

At my core, I report with empathy, accuracy, fairness and urgency.
